Country Inn, Guided Hiking and Walking Tours

Our first ever trip in New York State takes us to the magnificent Mohonk Mountain House, a National Historic Landmark, and the centerpiece of a 26,000 acre natural preserve in the Shawangunk Mountains. This Victorian castle is tucked away near the top of the Shawangunk Ridge on the shores of Lake Mohonk, a 60 feet deep freshwater lake. It is one of the last great 19th century resorts and our home for all 4 nights of our trip. From this vantage point we will explore the trails that fan out from our doorstep, highlighted by a trip up to Skytop and a view of 5 states. The adjoining Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Preserve offer further delights including the never ending views from Gertrude’s Nose or Millbrook Mountain.

The Hudson River Valley completes our visit with miles of woodland tracks and hiking trails, many on some of the country’s most impressive estates. We will include walks on the grounds of the Mills Mansion, the Vanderbilt Estate and along the carriage roads to Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site. Truly a walk back through time!
